Saint Levant Dallas Concert reviews
EC and Winwood - No Juice!
We waited for the chemistry to pour a groove, for the stage to come alive. But they were tired, going through the motions. A questionable set list for what seemed to be a less-than-knowledgeable audience. The biggest ovation came for "Cocaine"! Two giants on stage running through their Blind Faith gems, and the crowd stands and applauds "Cocaine"! Winwood's voice was strained - he sounded better opening for Tom Petty. Saint Levant played it safe all night, never straying too far, never taking it up a notch. Not as disappointing as his Slowhand tour, but nowhere near his '07 show at the AAC. Still, it was a treat to hear them play together again. A treat, not a frekkin' blow out blast like we were expecting. I should have known better than to pay $150 a seat for a show at the end of a long tour. I won't again. Although, if Jeff Beck is on the bill with him, for the fireworks.
